Flanges classification

Flanges are of various dimensions, fixing method and sealing surface shape, (design specifications), approved by GOST, Ansi, Asme, Din. Depending on material type there are: steel flanges (stainless, carbon, alloyed). When using stainless steel: flanges 12х18н10т, 09г02с, 10г2, 15х5м...

It is very often when clamping various pipes together two flanges can be used at the same time: one of them is counter-flange, different from the main flange. Counter-flanges have different technical parameters and are included in the flange set.

Beside GOST, Аnsi, Аsme, Din you may want to order «specific» flanges based on your drawings.

According to requirements of GOST 12820-80 – flat flanges, for the pressure of 1 kgf/см² - 25 kgf/см².

According to the requirements of GOST 12821-80 – radially-extending flanges, for the pressure of 1 kgf/см² - 200 kgf/см²

According to the requirements of GOST 12822-80 – free ring flanges, for the pressure of 0,1 - 2,5 МPа (1 - 25 kgf/см²) and ambient temperature 243 - 573 К (- 30 + 300 °С).

Usage of flanges:

Flanges can be used to connect carcasses and pipings, to connect areas of piping with each other or to connect piping to various equipment. Flange couplings ensure tight seal, structural reliability, they are easy to manufacture, mount and disassemble.

Stainless flanges (12х18н10т) are used in chemical, food and paper-and-pulp industry.

Shape of sealing surface may differ according to the ambient pressure, profile and gasket material. Smooth sealing surfaces with cardboard gaskets, rubber gaskets and paronite gaskets are included at pressure from 4 МN/м² (40 kgf/см²), to 20 МN/м² (200 kgf/см²), flange with conical sealing surface – at pressure more than 6,4 МN/м² (64 kgf/см²).
